Weddings with San Antonio's Paul N Carter Photography and Videography
So, what all goes into a Paul N Carter Wedding? What should you expect? I am glad that you asked! In this blog I will walk you through everything that typically happens when working with me. I offer different package but in this blog I am going to talk you through my big all inclusive wedding package including video and drone work! So sit back, grab and beer, or drink of choice and read on!
Where it all starts with Paul
We are starting at the point where the Bride & Groom have decided to go with the big package. For me that means we are going with the full team. I sit down with Joe, my head video guy and tell him to set up the team. We come in with 3 camera people and a person with the drone. We will also bring to assistance to be with the video guys for the evening.
In this package you will have 2 photographers as well. Myself and a 2nd shooter. We both also have assistance to help us with lighting. It takes a team to deliver but most of the time you won’t even know we are there unless we are directly working with you. I, on the other hand, am your “go to” and will be with you guys all day.
Getting everything just right!
As I have talked about on countless occasions. This is YOUR day and I am my team approach it that way. Our first shoot that we will meet for is the engagement shoot. Typically the bride and I will discuss exactly what, when and where we are going to do these. I will bring my video guys with me for this shoot because it is great to have the behind the scene footage for your wedding video as well. After we shoot your engagement I will design those the way that you want and get them to you so you can send out your wedding invitations. Most of the time, I will be with the bride when she says yes to the dress. Again, having a video guy with me to capture that as well. Once the dress is in hand we will be setting up our bridal shoot. I like to shoot both on location and in studio for this shoot. Myself and my video guy will get amazing shots of you in your dress. A lot of the brides like to get them done in time to get oversized canvas prints ordered so they can be displayed the night of the wedding, typically revealed during the reception so that the groom does not see them before the actual wedding. Now, for the bridal day shoot I will have asked if you want me to provide hair and makeup or if you will be using your own people. I will also have an extra person there to help with your dress but I also ask you to bring at least to of your brides maids or mother or someone that can help us all keep your dress from getting dirty at all. We approach this very carefully. After that it is time for the big day! One more thing before we get to the big day! We do a sit down interview in a nice studio location. We start with the bride because… well, ladies first. The groom is not in the room, we ask questions like what their favorite thing is about each other, fun memories, pet peeves and things like that. They both come in one at a time. Then we put them together an talk about how they met, how the engagement went, where they see themselves in the next 5, 10, and 20 years. It is a great keepsake to hold on to forever!
Your Big Wedding Day Is Here!
YES!!! It is time to say “I Do” Depending on the agreement and time we will start in typically means an 8-10 day for us at your wedding. We will show up as agreed upon ready to have a great day! I typically find the bride first and meet her wedding party. I will also be introducing the team and telling the wedding party that if anything is needed, any of these people on my team will know how to find me or make it happen themselves. We are typically is shirts that have our logo on them somewhere so you do not have to guess who we are with. After that, my drone guy will start looking at the area and figuring out the best footage to get. Same with the other video guys. They will survey the ground, where the actual wedding will be and come up with a plan to get the best possible footage. They will also start shooting b-roll footage of the place, of people getting ready and setting up. There will be both Photo and video of the bridal party and the groom and groomsman getting ready. There is a ton of footage being captured. Now, there are multiple ways of doing this next part. I always take it from what the bride thinks is best. Typically, what we find works great is, We will start taking the bridal party pictures and pictures with her family. Then I will call all of the guys in except the groom, for obvious reasons, and get the bride with all of the grooms man. Then I will send the bride away and repeat that process with the groom and his party. We take him and his family and then I bring all of the girls in, except the bride to get those shots knocked out as well. So, if your tracking with me. The only thing that we have to get immediately after the wedding is the full wedding party, the full family picture. Grooms family with the newly weds. Brides family with the Newly weds and anything else that you guys would want. Of course we are getting grandparent, aunts and uncles. Preacher that married you and all of that stuff. THEN I take the newly weds off to take their first set of pictures as a married couple!!! Keep in mind that video is being taken of all of this as well. When we shoot the couple I like to get some drone footage of the couple together as well as long as the location allows us to do that.
Time for the Reception!
While we are shooting the couple shots, people head to where the reception will be. Sometimes they have drinks and stuff. Every wedding is different. While we are shooting part of the video team is setting up along with the 2nd shooter to get shots of when the bride and groom are announced and enter the reception. Phew, we have been working hard and you guys are now officially married. it is time to eat, party and handle all of the reception things like the first dance, cake cutting, bouquet and garter toss. Sometimes there is a dollar dance and or a grand march. Again, every wedding is different. No matter what me and my team are capturing all of that! When it comes to eating my team my team and I take a small break to eat as well. After all of the festivities are said and done it is time to have the send off. The grand exit where again, we are capturing!
You head to the honeymoon and we get to work!
What a fantastic night. Everyone is exhausted but it was amazing. You guys are married and headed to your honeymoon. I however do not go straight to bed after we are done. The first thing I do is start getting all of the camera footage off of the camera and onto hard drives. That is 3 video camera, a drone and 2 photo cameras. All of that goes into a RAID system which means it is all double backed up to make sure that we never loose your footage. Then I got to bed. LOL! Our goal for turn around is typically 4 to 6 weeks but I always try and beat that deadline. Once done you guys come to the studio and get the royal treatment while you see all of your footage for the first time. You will automatically have all digital footage with print rights and prints that we discussed back when we first started this journey. I will also have other print options for you to take advantage of if you choose to. You are not required to but most people do! On the video side of things you will leave with a Video of the whole day. It includes your wedding in its entirety surrounded with beautiful highlights of the entire day. There will also be a shorter, highlight version for social media. Also, don’t forget about the couple interview that we did earlier in the package.
I am certain that there will be lots of laughs and some tears of joy. There always is!
That is typically a break down of what all goes into a wedding with me! We take great pride in our work and your big day. It is always an honor to be choose as your preferred photography and videography people!
