Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet,

As you may know, I recently moved to San Antonio. If you did not know… now you do. I frequently get asked where good places to shoot are and I figured this would be a great opportunity to share places here as I explore. I will also use this platform to talk about other places I have already shot. Some of my favorites and some of my not so favorites.

Something else I will be blogging about is finding and moving  into my San Antonio Studio! That search is just starting. It is finding that perfect balance in space and price. I am excited to move in and planning the opening night party. I have big plans for the studio. I want it to be more than just a space to shoot. I mean, it is more than just a picture so it need to be more than just a studio.

So, what did I think of my first Senior Session at the Pearl?

First, I would like to say. The Pearl is super cool and super hip place. I am sure that people familiar with and lives here know where the good parking is. By good, I mean free. I parked right outside of The Pearl in the parking lot under the highway. I paid a little over 11 bucks. Honestly, the 11 bucks is worth it considering that me and my team are carrying gear like lights, bounce and the senior typically are carrying clothes and cap and gowns. It was super close.

We pulled in about 6:30 and the place was packed. There is a cool court yard that had a ton of people hanging out doing a ton of different things. It is a very cool vibe. Not only were there a lot of people there hanging out. There was a ton of other seniors with other photographers. Apparently, a lot of Senior pictures are taken there. I mean its a no brainer that it is a great place to shoot any pictures, much less Seniors. Like I have said a couple times, it is super cool. In saying that, it is a place that I will explore more in the future. I want to explore different ways of shooting there. I am always trying to put my stank on any place I shoot. I am always shooting for my signature look and feel, and with the Pearl being a place that a lot of Senior pictures are taken I will work to stand out!

The Pearl has a very hip industrial/rustic/home feel. To me it feels high-end and sexy. They say it perfectly on their webpage. “Home to unforgettable cuisine, rich history, curious articles, and all the charm of South Texas. When you visit Pearl, we’d bet you won’t ever walk the same path twice.” If you are a photographer that shoots with lights then bring a team simply because there can be so many people there and traffic to get through. I am sure you can ironman it on your own. I mean we all do at some points but having a team, even if its a small team can help a ton in a location like this. When I go back to explore I will post again with pictures of cool spots. When you are there all I can say is purposefully look in every nook and corner.   There is this super cool metal stairway structure with fencing around it and rusted pipes from the old brewery. If you are like me and love texture, then you will LOVE this place. If you are in SA and a photographer that you have already been here, If you are coming into town or visiting, bring your camera.
